- In Norse mythology, Sleipnir was the name of Odin's steed, an eight-legged horse that was conceived when Loki turned himself into a mare and mated with a Stallion.[1]Hence the eight 'legs' that jut out from the main body of the ship, that appear to be hangar bays for the starfighters.
